Sansui

Sansui is a  company that sells Japanese gardening products to Western consumers. The word means ‘landscape’ in Japanese, or literally ‘mountain and water.’

Sho Chiku Bai is the combination of pine, bamboo, and plum that together mean resilience and resistance to hardship in Japanese culture. Often these are planted together, especially in wintertime. They are also a common motif on Japanese pottery and art.

This product packages pine, bamboo, and plum seeds together with dirt to create an all-inclusive Japanese gardening kit. The package includes an explanation of what the product is and the meaning and symbolism behind it.
